From the point of view of operating temperature, due to the sealing material and structure, the ball valve is not suitable for the steam medium, while the butterfly valve can be used for the conventional saturated steam medium (below 350 degrees) for heating.
The structure of the butterfly valve is relatively simple, and the butterfly valve is generally used for low pressure, while the structure of the ball valve is relatively complex and more resistant to high pressure.
Sealing and caliber are not the same
Butterfly valve is characterized by fast opening and closing speed, simple structure, low cost, but poor tightness and pressure bearing capacity. The ball valve can be opened and closed quickly, and can achieve complete sealing under high pressure and temperature. Therefore, in comparison, the sealing performance of the ball valve is better than that of the butterfly valve. However, due to the constraints of volume and opening and closing resistance, it is difficult for the ball valve to achieve a large diameter, and the structure principle of the butterfly valve is especially suitable for the manufacture of large diameter valves.
